12.64 mi in 00:56:00 hours at 13.54 mi/h on Giant Rincon. [Cycling] Nice mild/light rain ride into work. Saw four or five other cycle commuters and a surprising number of runners on the prairie path.
Reinforced my opinion that most any outdoor activity is enjoyable if your socks are dry. ;-) Glad to have good rain gear (shoe covers that I'd not been able to find for weeks until this morning...thankfully!).
46.91 mi in 02:46:59 hours at 16.86 mi/h on Specialized Tarmac Expert. [Cycling] Great ride with Jodi. I think his was our first actual hot weather ride this season at 87 degrees. No wind, really which was good, but thankfully, cycling comes with its own breeze, which REALLY helped.
Lots of mechanical problems in the group today:flat tire, broken shifter cable, speed sensor hitting spokes...weird stuff. I had a ZMC in front of the whole group which was a slightly embarrassing, but really just funny overall.
Burned the matchbook again. Woo hoo! There were some really fun sprints. A bit more strategic this time, so that went really well. The group, even the breakaways worked really well together today. Hugely important on such a hot ride. Went through about three water bottles on this ride. Probably need to bring a bit more to eat next time. There were a couple of spots where it felt like i tanked out a bit. Will most likely try eating a couple of times spaced out throughout the ride rather than just once.
12.67 mi in 00:51:16 hours at 14.83 mi/h on Giant Rincon. [Cycling] The weather is definitely turning warmer. It was a pretty warm ride in that reminded me that it takes a few rides to acclimatize to hot weather riding. Glad I drank a bunch before the ride so that I wasn't in a deficit during the ride.
Tried tracking my commute in using the CardioTrainer app for Android. Pretty cool stuff and it announced my pace, distance and time every 5 minutes during the ride. The music would soften and then the voice would announce my stats. Neato!
This was a nice recovery ride after last night's group ride.
29.19 mi in 01:43:00 hours at 17.00 mi/h on Specialized Tarmac Expert. [Cycling] Another much needed and enjoyable ride with the group. Some fun sprints through Fermi Lab & up S. Raddant road. I slept much better last night (thank you, Simply Sleep)...so I'm sure that helped a lot.
I think we had a pretty high average going right up until the end. Them Raouf slowed the pack down a bit as some of the riders were having a hard time. Still, it was a good ride.
I'm just realizing how much I look forward to these rides after a long workday. It gives me something to look forward to and get geared up for after driving a desk all day.
10.19 mi in 00:55:32 hours at 11.01 mi/h on Specialized Tarmac Expert. [Cycling] Jodi & I absolutely DRAGGED Caleb out on a ride as he was moping around the house. Despite much resistance...I think I even said something like, "You're going to have fun on this ride whether you like it or not..."...<rolls eyes>...
The funny thing is after the first mile, Caleb was fine. He sped up and started chatting with Jodi & I. We rode from home up to the Batavia Cremery for some ice cream. We had a really fun time. So...lesson learned: Mom & Dad don't do these things to be mean...we do them because we think they'll have a great time!
