70.28 mi on Avanti Quantum 3.0. [Cycling] Met most of BlackEdge, CTE, Lamb and half the club at Hexham for the ride up. 20-odd in A grade. Sam Hill went from the start. Was joined by Hughesy, Timmsy and Johnno. Hughsey flatted and the other three rode hard. The main group broke up a bit with 3-4 getting away but being pulled back. We got very close to the front group but to many worried about saving their legs for the sprint (me included). 4 got away to chase the 3 in front with about 3 kms to go. Johnno popped and Timsy claimed the win. BlackEdge 1st, 3rd (Ruks), 4th (Trev) and 5th (Coxy). I finished in the groupo, was going to sprint for 7th but couldn’t be arsed. Three times on the way home I was off the back and had to TT back on. Huge shout-out to Lamb who was very strong to claim 2nd in B grade. Saw the finish and was riding him hard. Massive improvement in the last 6 months. Look what a Garmin can do peoples :) |

17.77 mi on Avanti Quantum 3.0. [Cycling] Was 43 secs late for my second SAMBR of the year. Joined The Pom, MP, Lamb, Ellviner Ted and Johnny. The boys were making fun of my bald tyres with Lamb offering me some new ones. I was sketchy as and didn't take long before I laid it down. Good ride but too many stops for my liking considering the Convict 100 is only weeks away. Legs were fried from yesterdays race but still kept turning the pedals. Joined at pub by A1, Guru and Gus. Rode home to make dinner and drink more beers. |

68.48 mi on Avanti Quantum 3.0. [Cycling] Drove to Maccas at Hexham and rode up to Seaham with the Black Edge Team. Only 10 starters in A grade which made for a hard 60km race. Was going well after the first lap and a half until IL dropped the wheel during a massive attack. Fought to get back on but was totally stuffed. Got on the front up the climb on the last lap to keep the pace steady when Morgo attacked hard. Couldn't grab the last wheel. Cruised until I got caught by B grade. Sat on the back and enjoyed that pace a lot more. Towed the laughing bunch in for the last 4kms. Rode back to Hexham totally routed. |
