Perfect day for a ride, so went for a LONG ride, to Mt Alexander - we have the photo to prove it. Very steep climb - had to stop a few times on the way up to allow the HR to slow down a bit. Excellent trip once you get to the 'other side' and scoot down the mountain and home via Harcourt North.
What constitutes a great ride? Achieving another goal, a friend like Dee who puts up with my little (big) adventures and comes along to keep me safe on the road, and butterfly season - heaps and heaps of them (Wanderers??) out today - look great until they hit you fair on the nose!

10.26 mi on ORBEA Tenere MTB. [Cycling] Had to fix the disc brake on the MTB, so took it for a test ride up OTH, via Edwards Rd, and home again. Early morning, and quite chilly. On the way home decided would be a great day to do the Mt Alexander ride - so out with the roadie and off I go. |

Another perfect riding day. Had to wait for the visitors to leave, then off for another adventure.
Rode to fiveways, then back via Weeroona to Spring Gully, Story's Rd, Bennetts and home.
Met 4 Canadians riding small-wheel bikes around Victoria. Day 1 from Bendigo to Castlemaine. They're lucky with the weather...
Then I had a flat - 3 corner jack straight into back tyre. Managed a quick change of tube and thrilled myself to be able to get the tyre back on wheel without the levers. Used the CO2 bomb successfully and back on the road.
What constitutes a great ride? Blue sky behind mountain vista, meeting friendly strangers along the road, changing a tyre without stuffing it up. :) |
