Thu, Jan 26, 2012 - 51.57 mi [Cycling] |
|
51.57 mi on Giant OCR 2. [Cycling] The rain abated long enough for TDS and some Maitland invitees to undertake a ride of praise for our great southern nation. Everyone rode strongly and with the exception of a couple of flats, no major incidents. Nice to stretch the legs over a longer distance than the usual mid-week rides. Full marks to Toasted, her progress is gathering pace (excuse the pun) every ride. |

Sat, Jan 21, 2012 - 35.42 mi [Cycling] |

35.42 mi on Giant OCR 2. [Cycling] The Bunter family went to Shoal Bay for some late school holiday R&R. Keen not to miss the SMRR, I took the Giant and headed out to Bob's Farm via Marsh Rd, then turned onto Nelson Bay Rd, home via Taylors Beach & Salamander Bay. Beautiful, still conditions with no traffic about. I passed a euro couple near Little Beach, decked out in matching his & hers team kit, together matching his & hers Pinnarellos. A little while later they were spotted front & centre at the Sandy Foot cafe, sipping a Latte after a gruelling 8km ride. I now feel confident enough to be in a position to ride past on my old Giant and sneer at them, "bloody cafe riders". Anyway who is this guy with his trophy blonde girlfriend, Pinnarello, Porsche and six figure income? Me, inferiority complex, I think not. |

Wed, Jan 18, 2012 - 16.78 mi [Cycling] |
16.78 mi on Giant OCR 2. [Cycling] Quick solo loop into town & beaches + a couple of hills.
PS; I did see a euro family out for a ride yesterday afternoon. Dad was riding a very schmik FELT, Mum was on a brand new GIANT SL.O ($8k) and 13 year old son was also on a nice giant. Each family was kitted out in the best brand label gear and each bike equipped with a Garmin computer. I’m not sure what Dad does for a quid but that family ride cost around $20,000. I’m doing all I can to discourage my family for taking up cycling. |

46.60 mi on Giant OCR 2. [Cycling] Headed inland to catch up with the Maitland crew. A few spots of rain and a stiff southerly made trip home a little harder. |
