71.09 mi in 04:42:27 hours at 15.10 mi/h on Trek 1600. [Cycling] Monroe - North Bend 70 mile trip. Projected to be an 85 degree day. Started about 20 minutes behind the group, but caught up to them at Carnation. Did OK on the flats, but suffered on the climbs throughout the ride. Made our way up to Snoqualmie Falls, which I didn't realize was on the route. Enjoyed a respite in North Bend before heading back up to Fall City and Carnation.
At NE Stillwater Hill Rd, the paint on the ground said "Down shift now" and they weren't kidding.
But the absolute worst part of the day was on the last 8 mile stretch of 203 before the finish. I bonked and could not go faster than 11 or 12 mph into the headwind on the flats and 5 - 6 mph on the climb. Inner thigh cramp a mile from the finish forced me to take a 10 minute break.
All things considered, it was a fun ride. Got a little sunburned and a lot tanner. |

39.93 mi in 02:56:50 hours at 13.55 mi/h on Trek 1600. [Cycling] Beautiful morning to ride! I had the road to myself pretty much most of the time. I started from my house->LFP->Woodenville->Hang's Redmond Loop. The Woodenville hill was not easy for me. I'm definitely good friends with Granny. |

22.87 mi in 01:41:17 hours at 13.55 mi/h on Trek 1600. [Cycling] Q - LFP - Woodenville: Easy ride to keep it loose. BG is absolutely flat, but seems to sap my energy regardless. |

37.05 mi in 02:45:05 hours at 13.47 mi/h on Trek 1600. [Cycling] Ride Around Clark County - 35 (modified): Planned on a 6:00a start and a 60 mile ride, but was rained out until 4:00p, so I only had time for half. The weather after 4p was great: partly sunny, some drizzle in places, and breezy. Thank GOD for mapmyride and real-time GPS pathing on my iphone or I would have gotten lost.
First half was pretty straight-forward: bike lane on roads, low traffic, and relatively flat. Hit a terrific downhill next to Lacamas lake, and then the most scenic lakeside route after making the turn at the southern tip. You know what's coming next right?
Second half was hillier, but I routed a pretty good path back home. I took a gel shot that kept me going, but I should probably have taken another one. I could feel my thighs starting to cramp up about 5 miles from the finish.
With one mile left my thighs completely locked up, but I got off my bike just in time. All in all, a great ride!
Point of interest: Lacamas Lake |
