Southerly today so pushed me up Horseshoe but would have to ride against it on the way home.....bit overcast when I left but cleared and was sunny at the end. Passed a recumbenteer on a Greenspeed with Windwrap fairing and lots of lights, he was going at a slow bur steady rate so said "hello" and a little banter then onwards to 13th Beach - started chatting to a chap about everything.,..surf, kayaking, cycling, he used to live in Holland until 18 months ago to live in Ocean Grove where he grew up. Feeling a little weary leaving 13th Beach and the road seems uphill which ever way you go, thinks it's the coarse chip bitumen, then hit headwinds as I turned south, ouchy.... Torquay busy as usual on a sunny day, people not looking what they are doing or paying attention, tsk tsk tsk.... Then right at the end of my ride in Jan Juc a girl is more worried about her text message than crossing the road safely ?? A contender for this year's Darwin Award ? |

Not ridden with JP for a while and no response from VeloRossi....saw the forecast for strong wind so took the Mango but with the Flevo-roof.... A real cruisy ride to Annies and the wind was gusty in places but not too bad, really easy.... After a coffee, the wind had really picked up and we noticed it, JP felt it !! JP was feeling strong so went off to go to Moriac, I decided to have a go at HSB with the tailwind..... Was dodgy in places with the slight crosswind but went past a roadie doing 47kph to his 30'ish....I did ring my bell. Had to stop twice at road intersections at Mount Duneed and Blackgate Rd but should be my PR's....I'll check on Strava !! |

Bit of a late start, oops.... But sunny and a 20-30kph NW'ly, the first 2.5hours was hard work banging into the wind, only 23.5 kph average and crappy rough roads with some small craters in them ! Big hills going into Portarlington ! Lunch at Portarlington in the sun, great steak & guinness pie and a cheeky cider ! The rest of the ride was lovely, smooth tarmac, great views, easy to go 33 - 35kph cruising, on the slight slopes we saw upto 47 kph with very little effort. Had a couple of nice chats with people in Port Lonsdale and then a few more hills and then home Good ride Rossi ! |

Another great sunny day with a mild NW'ly wind..... Speed seemed easy today....all that stretching is paying off, fitness is coming back and feeling able to push a bit harder now..... Clicked my Vortex seat up 1 notch and it has cost me about 5kph in top speed but faster climbing for sure !! Can really feel the Osymetric rings working better on the hills when stomping on the power ! Very good !! |

A few more trick bits on the Moose.....My Shimano RS80-C50 rear 700c fitted with new Ultremo 622-28 tyre and 36-11 cassette and a new Ultremo 451-23 on my Velocity front wheel.....New Shimano Dura-ace pads fitted on the front brake are a lot better.... Have some fun with Rossi, a couple of quick bits but mostly steady riding....the windsock joiners popped apart again even with mega tape due to the crappy lumpy roads......need even stickier duct tape !! Getting a lot happier on the Moose......the Ultremo's seem to roll well :-) |

Had been planning a ride to Queenscliff with Rossi but showery start to the date put an end to that as Rossi had an afternoon meeting. By 11.30am it had dried up, the sun was shining, it was 15C and a 15kph NE'ly so went on a ride trying to keep my average HR below 140 bpm..... A reasonable average speed for little to no effort !! My fitness is definitely improving only 9 weeks after major back surgery !!!!
