Ride Detail
Sun, Mar 11, 2012 - 37.83 mi [Cycling] Details
37.83 mi in 02:16:00 hours at 16.69 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#27-Barwon Heads loop. Southerly today so pushed me up Horseshoe but would have to ride against it on the way home.....bit overcast when I left but cleared and was sunny at the end. Passed a recumbenteer on a Greenspeed with Windwrap fairing and lots of lights, he was going at a slow bur steady rate so said "hello" and a little banter then onwards to 13th Beach - started chatting to a chap about everything.,..surf, kayaking, cycling, he used to live in Holland until 18 months ago to live in Ocean Grove where he grew up. Feeling a little weary leaving 13th Beach and the road seems uphill which ever way you go, thinks it's the coarse chip bitumen, then hit headwinds as I turned south, ouchy.... Torquay busy as usual on a sunny day, people not looking what they are doing or paying attention, tsk tsk tsk.... Then right at the end of my ride in Jan Juc a girl is more worried about her text message than crossing the road safely ?? A contender for this year's Darwin Award ?

Mon, Jun 10, 2013 - 79.25 mi [Cycling] Details
79.25 mi in 04:37:00 hours at 17.17 mi/h on Catbike Musashi. [Cycling] Musashi#29-Bellarine Loop with JP & Rossi & suicidal public holiday drivers !

Some loons on the roads today, oh my God ! Basically a shakedown ride for JP's used Bacchetta....NNW'ly winds at 20 - 30kph...had a headwind for the first hour...the hills into Leopold and Portarlington were as tough as ever but OK once in the groove and fast on the descents. The run around to Indented Heads was nice, JP got a puncture after St Leonards. Stopped at PikNik for lunch, really good...another JP puncture, then down to Port Lonsdale, Then onto Ocean Groove (via the pig of Shell Rd and those other 2 10% nasties)....another puncture by JP at the bike track at 13th...they called a van ! I rode home alone.... The FD needs more work with the Osy's was stuck on the mid ring 90% of the day so was spinning out on descents....lots of pfaffing about, lots of stop/start.... Munatics who would rather risk head on collisions with other cars to just get past so bikes rather than wait 30 seconds ?? Madness on Port to Queenscliff Rd...

13.81 mi in 01:50:00 hours at 7.53 mi/h on Scott Spark Team 29 FS. [Cycling] Scott-To Torquay and back with Kirsten

Busy busy busy.....sunny and good surf means Torquay and Juc is pumping......people everywhere...... Managed to persuade Kirsten to go for a really gentle ride....she did alright but struggled at the end.....really bimbled along nicely once she had calmed down and got her balance..... First time I have ridden a DF bike for ages, God they are uncomfortable......got to love a recumbent for comfort !!

Thu, Jun 6, 2013 - 19.91 mi [Cycling] Details
19.91 mi in 01:04:00 hours at 18.66 mi/h on Catbike Musashi. [Cycling] Musashi#27-Belmont Crit track with VeloRossi & JP (& Bacchetta)

A steady 25-35kph NNW'ly at the track so banging into along the long straight.... JP was on Rick's old Bacchetta and JP seems to be very comfortable and confident on it..... We had an uprighter just sitting on my tail for 20 minutes, on the drops and working hard but not helping at all into the wind..... He was not very chatty and i did ask if wanted a turn at the front several times but he did not say a word...... Had a quick go and am amazed how well mannered the Bacchetta is at low speed, amazing....no fear of heel strike on the front wheel which still catches me on the Moose.... The bars were too short for me, so would need a different stem or long bar ends...... But a very easy to ride bike, I like !! Might have to think about a high racer, CA2 maybe ? Still a bit more tweaking of the Osy's rings but getting there, the boom needs a touch more extension....
