Ride Detail
Sat, Mar 17, 2012 - 44.04 mi [Cycling] Details
44.04 mi in 02:30:00 hours at 17.61 mi/h on Catbike Musashi. [Cycling] Musashi#15-Muffin at Moriac General Store. Feeling really shitty full of cold/man-flu....but dragged myself out for a ride. The first hill 5 mins from home was terrible, heart racing and unsteady, not good....sooo thirsty.....once off the GOR and onto Forest Rd, things got better, was able to get into a steady groove and my speed increased nicely. The cafe was shut at Moriac General Store so I had the last chocolate muffin and plenty of water. After my quick pitstop and bottle top up, set off again.....feeling better.... Quite bad sidewind when heading East but not too bad....turning South onto Horseshoebend Rd the wind was now a headwind but there was someone to catch in the distance so just dug in.....met a guy who was commuting home from Newtown Geelong and he was struggling into the wind, so he followed me all the way home. Idiot in Honda CRV cut us badly at the roundabout (turning right) on the house estate near The Sands, need to check the video as he chopped in front of me and gave me no room, might send to the cops.....the hills back into Juc were the usual grind but a steady run considering the cold/man-flu.....still feel terrible but more dehydrated now :-(

Filled up 750ml of water in Moriac, next leg..... The last bit into Torquay and then to Jan Juc
Sun, Mar 11, 2012 - 37.83 mi [Cycling] Details
37.83 mi in 02:16:00 hours at 16.69 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#27-Barwon Heads loop. Southerly today so pushed me up Horseshoe but would have to ride against it on the way home.....bit overcast when I left but cleared and was sunny at the end. Passed a recumbenteer on a Greenspeed with Windwrap fairing and lots of lights, he was going at a slow bur steady rate so said "hello" and a little banter then onwards to 13th Beach - started chatting to a chap about everything.,..surf, kayaking, cycling, he used to live in Holland until 18 months ago to live in Ocean Grove where he grew up. Feeling a little weary leaving 13th Beach and the road seems uphill which ever way you go, thinks it's the coarse chip bitumen, then hit headwinds as I turned south, ouchy.... Torquay busy as usual on a sunny day, people not looking what they are doing or paying attention, tsk tsk tsk.... Then right at the end of my ride in Jan Juc a girl is more worried about her text message than crossing the road safely ?? A contender for this year's Darwin Award ?
Sat, Mar 10, 2012 - 57.79 mi [Cycling] Details
57.79 mi in 03:31:00 hours at 16.43 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#26-Barwon Heads-Lake Rd-Boundary Rd-Moriac-Bells. Been a bad cycling week, no rides....either rain in the mornings or having to be somewhere after work or feeling like poo ! Felt really crap at work on Friday, slept really badly overnight and got woken up 3 times...so bailed on the 8am ride with the boys - went out on my own at 1pm and just rode..... The end of a 90km ride, went for a speed run - Vortex seat up high as it's in commuter mode with rack and rear mudguard fitted.....still managed a respectable 70.5kph Vmax....
Sun, Mar 4, 2012 - 37.82 mi [Cycling] Details
37.82 mi in 02:12:56 hours at 17.07 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#25 - Sunday drive. Mad weather all this week, lots of blustery wind and rain, so a window in the weather so thought I head out....strong Easterly wind, gusty as well....the Easterly gave me a nice push towards Breamlea and 13th Beach, once I got to Barwon Heads it was a headwind.....bit tough going in the open exposed roads but not bad all in all......one dickhead overshooting a corner whilst turning off the main road came onto my side of Lake road by over 3 feet....I saluted him.....good cruise back to Torquay and Juc, nice 28 kph average....
