37.82 mi in 02:16:08 hours at 16.67 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#31-Barwon Heads look with Slim & M&M. Cruisy ride, westerly pushed along 13th Beach Road at 40kph, usually that always feels uphill and slow. Cold on the hands, must get some gloves, colder when we stopped for tea & coffee..... Headwind on the return... Feeling slow, prolly due to stag do 2 days before and drinking way too much beer !

Sat, Mar 31, 2012 - 91.53 mi [Cycling] Details
91.53 mi in 05:34:10 hours at 16.43 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] My First 150km Audax - Anglesea - Apollo Bay - Anglesea with Slim & M&M. Great day for it, sunshine at the start heavy blustery headwind at 55km - 75km into Apollo Bay. Rear deraileur cable snapped 10km from Apollo Bay so 65 - 75km on 3 gears so hit the legs a bit hard as I had top gear on the back and just the triple chainrings..... Luckily Peter Donnan had a cable just long enough, had to trim the outer back 20mm and it just fitted..... Great organisation, cakes, rolls, sweets, drinks, tea, coffee.......all for $32....awesome.....the return leg was harder due to fatigue but a good run.... A mad gust blew me 1m into the centre of the road as the wind bounced off the cliff face, lots of scary moments due to the rippled corrugated tarmac on the fast downhill sweepers.....the back steppd out a long way on a few occasion..... the bike needs a thorough check over and clean !! The last few hills were hard work but the end at Anglesea was awesome, nice tea & cake !! Great bunch of people and will definitel do another one !! A few recumbents out there, saw Rick Harker on his Musashi going the other way but couldn't stop, saw a cool M5 with tailbox.....
Sun, Mar 25, 2012 - 85.91 mi [Cycling] Details
85.91 mi in 05:15:15 hours at 16.35 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#29-Phil Alderton Memorial Ride. This ride was organised in memory of Phil Alderton who passed away as a result of MND - originally it was an annual pub crawl ride which Phil started up - I set off from home so did more kays..... Only 4 of us set off at the start (some did the rail trail - 80km total distance) - good ride and not bad cruisy average of 26 kph... 3 beers in Queenscliff was probably too much but the 2 beers at Barwon Heads as nice :-) Rear mudguard fatigue failure mid way between Queenscliff and Ocean Grove - had to bodge it with tape on the roadside and then removed it at the next pub..... Aussie roads kills everything - the mudguard only lasted 3 months of Aussie coarse chip bitumen.... Home by 7pm - long day and a bit achy....
Sat, Mar 17, 2012 - 44.04 mi [Cycling] Details
44.04 mi in 02:30:00 hours at 17.61 mi/h on Catbike Musashi. [Cycling] Musashi#15-Muffin at Moriac General Store. Feeling really shitty full of cold/man-flu....but dragged myself out for a ride. The first hill 5 mins from home was terrible, heart racing and unsteady, not good....sooo thirsty.....once off the GOR and onto Forest Rd, things got better, was able to get into a steady groove and my speed increased nicely. The cafe was shut at Moriac General Store so I had the last chocolate muffin and plenty of water. After my quick pitstop and bottle top up, set off again.....feeling better.... Quite bad sidewind when heading East but not too bad....turning South onto Horseshoebend Rd the wind was now a headwind but there was someone to catch in the distance so just dug in.....met a guy who was commuting home from Newtown Geelong and he was struggling into the wind, so he followed me all the way home. Idiot in Honda CRV cut us badly at the roundabout (turning right) on the house estate near The Sands, need to check the video as he chopped in front of me and gave me no room, might send to the cops.....the hills back into Juc were the usual grind but a steady run considering the cold/man-flu.....still feel terrible but more dehydrated now :-(
Mon, Mar 12, 2012 - 41.51 mi [Cycling] Details
41.51 mi in 02:31:00 hours at 16.49 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#28-Bells, Moriac, Boundary, Horseshoebend. Labour Day Bank Holiday ride - Hills for the 1st 10km....out via Bells (definitely better the other way !), onto GOR, onto Forest Rd (definitely better going north) into Moriac then cut acros country to cross the Anglesea Rd at Mount Duneed, up Gahazeepore Rd, then across country on Boundary to pick up Horseshoebend Rd, then Torquay then home..... Filled up 750ml of water in Moriac, next leg..... The last bit into Torquay and then to Jan Juc
