32.17 mi in 01:48:32 hours at 17.78 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#34-13th Beach and back - quick squirt - new cassette fitted. The replacement ICE rear cassette arrived, easy job removing the old bent & mangled one and fitting the new shiny straight one....on the stand I could get all 10 gears, woo hoo, it's been a while to have that many, it's been 7 reliably for the last 500km or so... The ride was good, sun shining, bit of a SE'ly.... nice average considering taking it easy, gears shifted well, little bit of tuning still needed and the odd mis-shift over bumps ?? |

37.82 mi in 02:14:39 hours at 16.85 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#33-Barwon Heads via Lake Rd. The weather looked grim but still no rain by 2.30pm so thought I'd head out for a ride. Bit of a SW'erly.... Some really idiot car drivers, lost of AirZounding today, people just do not look, they reverse without looking over their shoulders ?? Once clear of Torquay things got better and a quick squirt up Horseshoebend and then Boundary to pick up Lake Rd, then onwards to Barwon Heads.....the return into the headwind was challenging, gear still shitting me as they hop and skip like a barsteward, bent sprockets, grrr..... Got home to find warranty parts from ICE, new rear mudgaurd, new rear cassette & tool and some tubing..... I am swapping rear cassettes tonight :-) |

32.25 mi in 01:52:59 hours at 17.13 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#32-Barwon Heads and back.... Windy blustery day Southerly 30 - 35 kph.... The front tyres have been rotated......rear sprocket/cassette straightened as best as possible but still skipping like you would never believe (there had been 3 bent teeth). Headwind was a real pig even low down, sidewind battered me and wind noise was terrible.... Good to get out for a ride ! |

37.82 mi in 02:16:08 hours at 16.67 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] Vortex#31-Barwon Heads look with Slim & M&M. Cruisy ride, westerly pushed along 13th Beach Road at 40kph, usually that always feels uphill and slow. Cold on the hands, must get some gloves, colder when we stopped for tea & coffee..... Headwind on the return... Feeling slow, prolly due to stag do 2 days before and drinking way too much beer ! |

91.53 mi in 05:34:10 hours at 16.43 mi/h on ICE Vortex FS. [Cycling] My First 150km Audax - Anglesea - Apollo Bay - Anglesea with Slim & M&M. Great day for it, sunshine at the start heavy blustery headwind at 55km - 75km into Apollo Bay. Rear deraileur cable snapped 10km from Apollo Bay so 65 - 75km on 3 gears so hit the legs a bit hard as I had top gear on the back and just the triple chainrings..... Luckily Peter Donnan had a cable just long enough, had to trim the outer back 20mm and it just fitted..... Great organisation, cakes, rolls, sweets, drinks, tea, coffee.......all for $32....awesome.....the return leg was harder due to fatigue but a good run.... A mad gust blew me 1m into the centre of the road as the wind bounced off the cliff face, lots of scary moments due to the rippled corrugated tarmac on the fast downhill sweepers.....the back steppd out a long way on a few occasion..... the bike needs a thorough check over and clean !! The last few hills were hard work but the end at Anglesea was awesome, nice tea & cake !! Great bunch of people and will definitel do another one !! A few recumbents out there, saw Rick Harker on his Musashi going the other way but couldn't stop, saw a cool M5 with tailbox..... |
