10.00 mi in 00:40:00 hours at 15.00 mi/h on Orbea Lonzo 29er. [Cycling] Recovery ride (spin) w/ Charity around WRL. High winds & choppy water on the lake. Painful in the beginning. Knees were screaming, but this ride was necessary. My legs felt much better by the time we finished.
16.00 mi in 01:52:00 hours at 8.57 mi/h on Orbea Lonzo 29er. [Cycling] Casual ride at OCNP. Have no climbing legs, but everything else felt good. Nice day to be out on the bike. Would like to have gone to NS, but didn't feel like making the drive.
63.00 mi in 22:37:00 hours at 2.79 mi/h on Orbea Lonzo 29er. [Cycling] 24hrs of Rocky Hill - Have not been able to train the last 2 months thanks to an INSANE work schedule so I had no expectations going in to this race. I knew that I would have great support & friends there & I knew this trail so I wanted to see where I was at & how much I had lost. 1st lap had the typical barney train on the climb in the begining. The 1st 1.5 miles was rutted out from the previous weeks race. Got thru the climbing & things settled down. Was hotter than expected. I could tell from the start that I was not drinking enough. As usual, my HR was on the high side until I got myself under control & started riding my race & ignoring the fast guys. Came into pits long enough to swap bottles then back out. I endo'd on the "cardboard" bridge. Nice sand burn on my knee & arm & caused some swelling on my knee as well. Photographer right there said that 2 other people did the same thing before me. Actually started getting hungry during this lap. Took about 10 minutes in pits to eat some strawberries then headed back out. Half way thru 3rd lap, I started getting hints of cramps in my legs & toes. Had planned to take long break after 4th lap to eat & take short power nap, but decided to do it after 3rd lap so that my food & coconut water could get into my system. Slept longer than planned & 4th & 5th laps were in the dark. Cory & Ryan rode with me for 1 lap. Was good having company with me. Although I felt fine, I was starting to get sloppy on 5th lap so decided to break & get more fluids & carbs in me. Although I immediately changed onto dry clothes (was in the 50's) & could not get warm. I was shivering so hard that I could not eat/drink so went to snuggle in sleeping bag to get warm. Fell asleep. In the morning, I did not want to eat anything even though I knew that I needed to. finally got in some cinnamon rolls & coffee, changed & went back out. felt OK. Topped off bottles & went out for #7. Had enough time to get in 2 more laps if I pushed it. Half way thru, I knew I was done. I would end up being the last rider to make it in. 7 laps was good enough for 3rd place. I can't complain. I wanted 10 laps, but knew it was going to be difficult. 2nd place had 10 & 1st place had 12. Hydration & lack of training hurt me in this race.
5.00 mi in 00:30:00 hours at 10.00 mi/h on Orbea Lonzo 29er. [Cycling] Easy spin w/ the guys to stretch the legs & check out the beginning & end of the race route. Lots of climbing in the 1st 1.5 miles. The trail is very rutted throughout both of these sections from last weeks race in the rain
