40.47 mi in 02:39:58 hours at 15.18 mi/h on Cannondale Synapse Hi-Mod. [Cycling] Attempted Sleepy Creek. Double-flatted at bottom of the descent after the first major climb. Only one CO2, doh! Gentleman at the house right there was able to contrive a presta adapter for his compressor, so after replacing one tube and patching the other, I got going again. But, patching a pinch flat doesn't work so well...so, a few miles later, mostly up the Sleepy Creek climb, I realized the tire was going soft again. Called Vanessa, started walking down the mountain, got a ride to the nearest convenience store, from there another ride to Inwood where Vanessa picked me up. It was a very windy day, so that slowed me down, but I was riding pretty strong, and doing well up the climbs. Oh, well, next time. |
